The first months into the new financial year have produced good financial results for us. The valuation on our shares is up 3.9% in that period—a good start to the year.
We are in the middle of the period when the 2012/13 results for most listed companies are reported. Our equity investments, in particular our larger holdings, have had exceptional results and this is reflected in their share prices.

The 2013 financial year has been good financially for August Investments shareholders. Increase in the value of shares and dividends combined provided a yield of 17.8% for the year. This is a better return than provided by the average for Australian balanced superannuation funds, which was just over 15%.
Mighty River Power (see previous report) has increased its geothermal electricity production by 82 GW with the commissioning of the Ngatamariki geothermal power station in New Zealand. This has increased the geothermal proportion of Mighty River’s energy production from 30% to 40% and increased its overall electricity output by 15%.
